About the Merge Calculator

Merge math is exponential

If 2 items merge into one, a tier-5 item needs 2^4 = 16 base items. With 3-way merges it needs 3^4 = 81. The numbers explode fast, which is exactly why merge games feel like a grind.

Plan your merge chains

Whether you are playing a merge game, an idle game, or combining crafting materials, knowing the exact base-item count before you start saves space and time. This calculator handles 2-way and 3-way merges.

Frequently asked questions

With 2-way merges, tier-5 needs 16 base items (2^4). With 3-way merges, it needs 81 (3^4).

If the base count is not a perfect power, you will have leftovers. The calculator shows the needed full count; incomplete chains leave partial merges.

Yes — some games use higher merge counts. The calculator supports any merge number via the merge-rule input.
