Convert vertical and horizontal FOV and see your effective field of view on any aspect ratio.
Vertical FOV (Vdeg)
Effective horizontal FOV by aspect ratio
Type your in-game field of view value and pick whether it is measured horizontally or vertically.
Select the aspect ratio your FOV setting refers to (usually 16:9).
See your vertical FOV and how the horizontal FOV changes on 21:9, 32:9 and other formats.
Field of view measures how much of the world you see, either as horizontal degrees (Hdeg) or vertical degrees (Vdeg). Most games display horizontal FOV, but vertical FOV is the constant when games force a 16:9 view โ which is why ultrawide players must convert carefully.
On a 21:9 or 32:9 monitor, a 16:9 FOV setting crops your view. Increasing the horizontal FOV to the equivalent vertical FOV restores the intended image. This calculator does the math and shows the effective FOV for every common aspect ratio.
Most competitive FPS players use 100-110 horizontal FOV at 16:9. Lower FOV (60-80) zooms in for long range, while higher FOV widens peripheral vision for close-quarters play.
Yes. A wider FOV makes targets appear smaller and can slightly reduce visible sensitivity. Convert your FOV properly when switching games to keep your aim consistent.
Vertical FOV (Vdeg) is the field of view measured top to bottom. Many games hide it โ it is derived from horizontal FOV and the aspect ratio via this calculator.
