The calculator estimates the average FPS your combination of CPU and GPU will produce at your chosen resolution and quality. FPS (frames per second) measures how smoothly a game renders — higher is better, and the difference between 30, 60, 144 and 240 FPS is night and day in competitive titles.
The GPU determines how many frames your graphics card can draw at a given resolution and quality, while the CPU sets a hard ceiling on frame delivery. If your GPU could render 200 FPS but your CPU can only push 150, you have a CPU bottleneck. This tool flags which part is holding you back so you know where to spend your upgrade budget.
It is a realistic estimate based on typical performance tiers, not a guarantee. Real FPS varies by game engine, drivers, temperatures and background software — treat it as a strong indicator, not a benchmark.
30 FPS is the minimum for playable single-player, 60 FPS is the smooth standard, 120-144 FPS is ideal for high refresh monitors and 240 FPS or more gives a real edge in competitive shooters.
1080p is the most common for high FPS, 1440p is the sweet spot for clarity plus performance, and 4K is best for visuals but demanding on the GPU.
