About the Storage Calculator

Modern games are huge

Current AAA titles routinely exceed 100-150 GB, and with texture packs and updates they keep growing. A 2 TB drive can hold only a dozen or so big games, so planning your library size matters more than ever.

SSD vs HDD

NVMe SSDs are essential for modern games (they stream assets in real time), while HDDs remain cheap for archives and media. Reserve your fastest drive for the games you actually play.

Frequently asked questions

A 1 TB NVMe SSD is the sweet spot for a gaming PC — roughly 8-12 current games plus the OS. 2 TB gives comfortable room for a larger library and captures.

Most recent AAA titles install between 80 and 150 GB, with some exceeding 200 GB. This calculator uses realistic per-game averages.

Only for a small library. After Windows (~30 GB) you fit about 3-4 large games. Most gamers find 1 TB the minimum comfortable size today.
