Type the diagonal size in inches, e.g. 27.
Type the resolution, e.g. 2560 × 1440.
See the comfortable and field-of-view distances, plus the distance where pixels disappear.
Eye-care experts recommend a comfortable field of view of about 30-40° of your peripheral vision. For a given screen, the comfortable distance is roughly the screen diagonal multiplied by 1.5 to 2.5 depending on how immersive you want it.
Past a certain distance your eye can no longer resolve individual pixels (around 60 pixels per degree). For 1080p that happens sooner than for 4K — sitting too far from a 4K screen wastes its sharpness.
About 60-90 cm (24-35 inches) for comfort, and roughly 55 cm to fill a 40° field of view. This calculator gives the exact range for your screen and resolution.
No. Sitting too close strains your eyes and forces constant head movement. The sweet spot fills a comfortable field of view without revealing pixels.
Yes. Higher resolution lets you sit closer without seeing pixels, which is why 4K at 27-32 inches is so crisp compared to 1080p at the same size.
